Denying Emotions

I really hate that I haven't been able to blog. I've been trying to write here or there but nothing has been on the schedule that I wanted to write. The weather has been a factor in my not keeping my posting here. The other reason is that once I start, I tend to ramble from one idea or topic to the next. I think it's a way that I evade what's really going on inside me. I don't know if I can overcome that or if it's just something I will always do. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that with this weather, I haven't been able to move very well at all. It was near 60 degrees F, then dropping down in the 20s. A few days later, the temperature would be back up again. The wonderful weatherman says that it will be down in the 10s or lower in the next few days as an arctic front comes through. We have snow on the ground and the possibility of more. So who knows what the future holds? All that aside, I am hopeful to keep posting. That means that it may be a long, winded diatribe about whatever or just a few lines to say that I'm alive. If I am ever going to get back into the groove of writing, I'm going to have to make myself write.

As I said, I've had a lot of difficulties this past week or so that I've been unable to post here. First, I was having a lot of problems with my right hand being stiff and tender. Trying to type was a nightmare. A couple days later and the left hand began to do the same thing. Throughout this, I started having a really sharp pain in my left side. Apparently my diverticulitis decided to act up. Mr Fibro made an appearance so he wouldn't be forgotten and left me stiff, sore and in much pain. I think Pain has become my most constant companion nowadays anyway. Whether the pain is physical or emotional, it's still here with me. Right now, I keeping on my happy mask because I don't want to deal with pain I'm feeling. I know I should deal with things as they come, but I don't really want to face this again. What am I trying to avoid? Celebrating my birthday without my brother. His birthday is the day after mine. We'd always have them celebrated together because it was easier on my family that way. After so many years of celebrating them together, it's so weird to now have the birthday all to myself. Instead of making plans to have a celebration, plans are being made to go to the graveyard. It just seems surreal to me. I want to celebrate the life Billy had and I want to make a positive impact on those who are suffering as he did. I look at his picture or see something he was interested in. It all reminds me of what could have been. That makes me sad. So I put it in a little box and slip it behind all the other boxes that I don't want to deal with at the moment. Of course, a natural reaction but those boxes are starting to pile up.

Today was a bed day. My side and hands are really bothering me. It's taking me forever to type this and I know my hands are going to be hurting once I'm completely done. I am working my way through my emails and stuff once again. Whenever I start to get back on a schedule of stuff, I get stuck in the bed so things back up again. Never ending! There are a few other things on my mind, but I'll have to work them out here later.

Hope today was a good day for you all.
Love and blessings,
Kim

It's COLD!!!! Day 2...lol

Yep, this is day two of the frigid temps here. It's a balmy 24 degrees F at the moment. Tonight, the temperature is supposed to dip lower but then bounce back up fairly quickly. I'm not going to do much today. I think I may be able to load the dishwasher but then it's back under my blankets as fast as I can waddle to them. Also, I'm not going to do a big post today. My hands are aching a bit too much. Therefore, I hope that you all get warm and stay warm!

Love and blessings,
Kim

It's COLD!!!!

Okay, so I know it's winter and all, but do we really have to have bone-chilling temperatures? Holy snow flurries, it got down to 4 degrees F overnight and it isn't much warmer at the moment either. Our poor heater just isn't up to doing battle against this deep of a chill. The wind is also pretty bad as it's below zero. The only thing we have to look forward to is a "warm-up" to about 55 degrees F or more coming this weekend. It's supposed to drop sooo much tonight. Probably will be below zero by morning. Brrr!!! It is also been forcasted that we'll have rain that will turn to snow after the weekend. Honestly, I don't know which is worse. We'll have the bone-chilling temps or slippery roads as the rain turns to ice while the temperatures drop back down below freezing. Oh, the joys of winter weather in this lovely state!

Not doing much today. My hands are bothering me a bit and the weather makes moving more difficult than ever. But the weatherman says there's gonna be a warm up so I'm hoping it comes fast. Lol, for now though I'm just taking it easy. I plan to spend some time playing on the computer after updating here and then Chris and I are going to seal up a couple of windows that have let in the really cold air. Other than that, I'm going to try and formulate a small workout routine that I can stick to. I need to lose this weight so I can ease up on my joints before I lose them. To be very honest, I also don't want to spend my days like my brother by being stuck in a house and not doing anything. I want to live and experience things. Plus I do want to make a difference in the lives of others with lupus. In order to do all that, I have to be able to move. Therefore, I need to be healthy. That's my goal. Not a resolution, but a goal. To be healthy.

So I'm off the computer for now. Be back tomorrow. For now, stay warm and have a great day!

Love and blessings,

Kim

New Year...New Hope

So it's a new year. A cold and snowy new year here. Lol, when I went to bed last night, the wind was howling like you wouldn't believe. When I woke up, flurries were playing in the wind but not sticking on the ground. However, when I looked out the window just a little bit ago, it seems like the snow was starting to stick in the windows of the cars and in the cracks of the sidewalks. The weatherman says that we're going to get some really cold weather and then it's supposed to warm up over the weekend enough to allow us to have rain instead of snow. Not that I don't appreciate the warmer weather but the up and down of the temps and the barometric pressure is really wreaking havoc on my arthritis. The past few days have been harsh because the weather fronts coming through the state. My right hand has really been having a tough time as of late. I can sometimes open it all the way but mostly it's only allowing me to open it halfway. My pinky on the right hand doesn't like to bend without pain nor does my thumb. I know the rheumy was concerned about my hands on my last appointment so we'll have to see what he says this time around. I know that I need to start taking my arthritis meds like I'm supposed to. I just haven't been because we didn't have the money to get them and all the places that I've gotten money before are strapped for cash themselves. Hopefully once Chris gets back to work, I'll be able to be on my meds like I'm supposed to be.

Last night, we actually got to see some fireworks near our house. There is an old mall that is being demolished for a new construction project. Since it's been around for the longest time, city decided to have a community New Year's party and have fireworks before the place is closed forever. The great thing about living just a few minutes from downtown is that I didn't have to be out in the cold to watch the fireworks. Patches (our new puppy) wasn't sure what to make of the fireworks and the noises at first but then he didn't mind them too much. That leads me to believe that he won't have much of a problem with the 4th of July celebrations when it comes time for them. Patches was also introduced to snow for the first time. Lol, he hopped around like a little bunny before flopping down and licking the snow. He decided it tasted good. Since we haven't had a lot of snow fall and stick around, he's not too sure what it all is but I have a feeling that before the winter is officially over, he'll know what snow is real well.

I've been a good girl and worked on some of my outstanding projects. I have a few crochet projects that really need to get done soon so I can mail them off when we have a bit extra money. I feel really horrible for making things for people and then not being able to mail them off but we just didn't (and still don't) have the money to do it at the moment. Yet, I am determined to find out how much the packages will be and save up for it. Yes, even if I have to do it all year and send them out for Yule! I'm also backed up on my cross-stitch projects. There's so many that I want to get done. I really wish that my hands weren't they way they were. If they were even at the standards they were 5 years ago, I could get so much more done. But now, I just have to do what I can and then rest. The same goes for writing, typing or doing emails. I can only do so much now. There really will come a time soon when I need to look into getting one of those voice programs for the computer so I can continue to keep up with the emails and even chat with my friends online. Either that or I'm going to have to teach myself how to write with my left hand. I can write a bit but it looks like a little kid's writing. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess. Of course, my reading goal for the year will be 63 books. Since I was able to read 62 books in 2007, I figured that I would increase the goal by one so that I wouldn't feel like an underachiever if I didn't reach 100. Not to mention the fact that anything over 63 will be extra awesome in my book.

The other thing on my list to do is to try and get my house cleaned from top to bottom. Of course, there are way more things that I can't do than what I can. I'm going to try and do what I can though. Chris is going to have to help me more so than usual. Maybe one of these days when I sell a couple of novels, I'll be able to hire a maid. Lol, that'll be the day. For now, I'm off to sit and relax. Tomorrow begins a new year of getting fit and trying to get caught up on all the things that I have let slide after all that happened in 2006 & 2007.

Have a great day all,
Kim
